Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) in Pregnancy.!
Pregnancy causes numerous changes in the woman’s body that increase the likelihood of urinary tract infections (UTIs) due to Hormonal and mechanical changes that occur in pregnant woman. The disease is caused by the inversion of bacterias (mostly E.coli) in Urinary Tract System 🦠
UTI should be treated as fast as possible in Pregnancy because the complications can affect both fœtus and the mother ⚠️
Signs and symptoms: ⁉️
-Discomforts and pain when urinating
-Fever, chills and feeling restlessness
-Frequent urinating (bladder fullness)
-abdominal abnormalities
-pain when seated at certain angle

The following behaviour might help to reduce the risk of contracting the infection: 🤰🏻
•Avoid Bath and favor the shower
•prefer the liquid soap than the bar soap to avoid the colonization of bacterias on the bar soap
•drinking water should be the new way of life
•washing hand regularly before and after toilet
•wipe Front to Back after urinating or defecating
•Avoid too much sugar diet (should be avoided always anyway 🙄)

So when to see a doctor..⁉️
A check up for a pregnant woman should be well scheduled during the nine months of pregnancy this includes frequent Urine test (it’s obligatory) moreover after having the signs and the symptoms medical expert should be consulted as soon as possible
So what should we expect as the Treatment..⁉️
The following are recommended Treatment for UTI in pregnancy and their dosage ✔️
•Nitrofurantoin monohydrate/macrocrystals 100 mg orally twice daily for 5-7 days or
• Amoxicillin 875 mg orally twice daily (alternative: 500 mg orally three times daily) for 5-7 days or
• Amoxicillin-clavulanate 500/125 mg orally three times daily for 5-7 days (alternative: 875/125 mg orally two times daily for 5-7 days) or
• Cephalexin 500 mg orally four times daily for 5-7 days or
• Fosfomycin 3 g orally as a single dose with 3-4 liters of water

•Aminoglycosides (ototoxicity following prolonged fetal exposure)
•Fluoroquinolones; avoid during pregnancy and lactation (toxic to developing cartilage)
•Trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole; avoid during first and third trimester.
